damn government

The government adjusted my tax return for last year and sent me a bill for a whole $6.30 for CPP or something. But then, to add injury to insult, the damn envelope that came in gave me a paper cut. Now it's all red and sore. I think it's infected.

Damn government.

I'm trying to sort out financial stuff for the house. Looks like I can make a 10% downpayment easy and still have some money in the old retirement fund. That's good. I kinda wanted to play a trick where I can dump a few thousand into an RRSP and then immediately withdraw it for the first time homebuyers thing and still get to claim it on income tax. Looks like they already saw through that plan, though. Any money has to be in there for 90 days or something. Damn government. Curses!

Around the start of the year I was kind of wavering on whether I'd actually go to many conventions at all this year, besides the necessary Anime North. Last year was a record for me, con-wise, but a lot of it was "meh" for the most part. Now I'm definitely going to Ad Astra in April and kinda sorta tentatively planning on doing Lunacon in goddamn New York City in March. And I figure I'll do Toronto Trek come July because I'm sure DWIN will have been bolstered by having Doctor Who on CBC starting in March/April and TT is the only con with any Doctor Who programming at all, so it'll be cool to see what happens there. And I'll probably go to CNA again just because it's an excuse to hang out with people.

So yeah. Cons. Huh.

House hunting continues. No leads for the last week. I think my agent was sick with a cold or something. Today she's off looking at an open house for me, so that's good. If it doesn't suck, I might check that out tomorrow.

Yea, if I lived closer to Toronto, or in Toronto even, then I would go to more conventions.
It's just the over-all price of it all that kills me.
That's why there's only one...

Yeah, but you buy stuff.

Besides registration, I think I spent $20 at Ad Astra last year. (I got a book and some old FASA Doctor Who RPG Sea Devil miniatures...). And that was mostly because I felt bad for going all the way there and not getting anything.

Okay, three books.

I didn't write a report for it, but I don't think I bought anything at all at Toronto Trek. The year before, I think I just bought that picture book. (That picture gets an awful lot of hits, strangely).

True that.
I do tend to go overboard on the stuff.
I'm trying to curb my habit somewhat, but it's hard ^_^
