the thing and the guy

Bored bored bored.

Apparently I missed the CTRL-A meeting on Monday. There wasn't an email and I'm sure I checked the website on the weekend to see if a meeting was posted. Oh well. I wonder who the new exec are.

I wonder if anybody showed up.

I've been playing Knights of the Old Republic the last few nights. I decided to go for the light side, mostly because I felt bad saying mean things to computer people all the time. After getting through the first world, I thought I'd go back and do the dark side stuff. I admit, it was kind of fun, but I think I'll wait till I've finished the game with the light side. It's kind of dull doing the same things you just did a couple nights ago. Although you do get to talk to different people.

I also played Final Fantasy XI for about fifteen minutes. I got it for Christmas, because I asked for it, because I know I wouldn't have bought it for myself and I was curious. The first thing that happens when you get in the game is you're given something to give to somebody. They say they've put it on your map. So great, whatever, I think. This should be like any other role-playing game (notably KOTOR). I can wander off and figure out how to, like, move around and I'll come back and give the thing to the guy.

When I get bored figuring out how to walk around (which is actually pretty archaic for a modern 3D third person game), I decided to find out where this guy was whom I was supposed to give this thing to. Do you think I could find a conversation log? My map? Anything? Hell, no. I wandered around talking to every NPC I could find, and none of them seemed to be interested in taking things from people.

All I wanted to do was maybe kill some bunny things or something. I couldn't do that without weapons. And I wasn't getting any of that until I gave the thing to the guy.

I was starting to get afraid that I was looking like an idiot, so I logged off. I'm not sure why I was afraid that. Everybody else was running around looking silly too.

I really don't get the whole MMORPG thing. I should probably cancel my account before they start charging me.
