microsoft trip - day 2

Solo dim sum is a bit dangerous, but the concensus on seattle.eats is that Hong's Garden is the best dim sum place in town, so I figured I had to give it a try. It was really good. Cheaper than Cedar Street Seafood too, I think. It's just too bad I couldn't try more. I ate too much as it is.

I got lost a bit getting up into Seattle, since I didn't feel like taking the freeway. But that was okay. This is a neat town.

I did all the regular touristy things. I checked out the Experience Music Project, which was pretty cool. I got a quick drum lesson. I kind of suck. In the same building is a science fiction museum and hall of fame, which utterly rocked. Unfortunately, they told me I wasn't allowed to take pictures. Which was sad because they had authentic props and costumes. Everything from Star Trek (the original captain's chair!) to Babylon 5 (Londo, Delenn and G'Kar's costumes!). They even had a fun gun from the Happiness Patrol episode of Doctor Who! Cool!

*cough*

And all of that is right beneath the Space Needle. So, of course, I had to.

I've got some nice shots of Seattle from the needle, which I might post later. After I did all that, I went down to the Pike St market where they toss fish around (That's a link to a minimally encrypted video. I have another video of a cool street performer guy, but that'll have to wait till I can get back so I can throw a decent codec at it. Check out the fish tossing guy! I've seen these guys on TV a few times (which probably means I watch too much Food Network)). I really wanted to take the monorail there (Monorail!!), but it's not operational, sadly. I just drove instead. Boring, I know.

Oh, and then on the way back to the hotel I passed a derailed train. I didn't take a picture of that because the train guys looked a bit harried (understandably) and I figured it would be a bit rude.

And now, it doesn't feel like 7pm. I still don't feel hungry at all, thanks to lunch. It seems a shame to waste my per diem for meals, though. I'm just too tired to go out anywhere. Oh well. This is probably a good thing. Means I'll be up and alert for the Microsoft folks tomorrow. I hope they appreciated it.
