archived stuffOlder links and things are collected here. legend of earthseaThey're doing an Earthsea miniseries? That's pretty cool. The book is awesome (it was on the syllabus for my Children's Lit course). I'm sure a lot of the nuances were lost in the translation, but it's still a cool story all the same. i'm a rocker. i rock out.I came across this interesting free online music blog mix CD set thing today (via boing boing). More indie rock than the usual hip hop stuff. There's some quirky and interesting stuff in there. The Asobi Seksu track is decent enough pseudo-Jrock. Junkie Brewster's slightly slurred vocal and ukelele version of Madonna's Like a Prayer is equal parts charming and unsettling. Smoosh is both pretty good and really cute. I think my favourite was Chkrrr. The included I Will Leave at Dawn is very good. I think I really like Inside off their website too, although I might not entirely agree with the particulars. follow-upWilliam Gibson writes, "I would have liked to have gotten [Neal Stephenson] permanently out of the way shortly after reading Snow Crash, of course, but I could already see that I would need him one day to help battle Bruce Sterling. Literature is a long game." stop using toasters!![]() Damn Arnold. Damn him and his mind-control laser toasters. armageddonMaybe I will look into fixed rate mortgages... solar-powered stirling generatorsInteresting little link from Ars Technica. It talks about the potential of large-scale solar power generation using Stirling engines as the generator. Neat. 20,000 "solar dishes" probably takes up a lot of space, though. nintendogs!Okay. I have to get a Nintendo DS now. best. thing. evar!
