Riboflavin!

I've been on this diet thing since the beginning of the year. Honestly, no complaints. If I'd known how relatively painless this was, I'd have done it years and years ago. You just have to know what you're doing.

That's the catch, really.

A couple of days ago, the left side of my mouth started to crack. Annoying, but I figured it was just winter's last, flailing swipe in its long onslaught of annoyances. Then today, the other side of my mouth started to crack as well. And I went "Hunh, that's weird."

Now I'm always a bit skeptical in googling up medical symptoms, but hey, check it out. Riboflavin deficiency. And then I'd realized I'd been slacking off on the multivitamin. Well that explains feeling all lethargic and light-headed the last couple weeks. And the blood-shot eyes. And the dry skin.

I have to admit... I started out well doing the whole balanced diet thing (albeit a reduced one), I'd gotten lazy the last little while.

Okay, so that was dumb. I took a double-dose of the multi-vitamin. Now, miraculously, the right corner of my mouth is nearly normal. The left has to heal up a bit. Good old riboflavin.

I keep forgetting that I'm... you know... mortal. There are actually consequences to getting this stuff wrong. Who knew?

My personal favorite is the ice cream diet. That means you sacrifice normal foods so that you can allot all of your daily calories to ice cream. Both my daughter & I live on this...ice cream for breakfast? You bet! ;> She burns it off playing hockey 4-6 times a week, while I burn it off trying to keep up with her schedule like a crazy chicken dance. Ah, yes, only three more days and regular hockey season is DONE! Not our best year for many reasons, we are *both* counting down to end it. Sad, wot? But we've already got a skills clinic lined up that starts in April that we know will be fun, and if it weren't for the (perfectly normal OMG *not* hockey related!!!) vacation to New Jersey we are very determined to take in early July and need to save our pennies for, we would join the local Spring team for her age group--they are going to Vancouver and Calgary this year. Ooo La! :D Meanwhile, the kid bought a laptop today. She's been saving her $$, and I'm so proud of her for accomplishing her goal! She wanted to be able to buy it by her 12th birthday, and that is next week, so mission accomplished. I just hope she doesn't kill it by getting a stupid virus or something. *sigh* Life as a parent sucks, there is always something to worry about... So *you* can think about grandkids, Squirrel--I just keep telling mine that she should think hard and long before breeding, it is a lot of work. Oh, and also that I will be far too busy living my own life again to take care of her kids, so don't be thinking mom will save her the trouble! Grandkids? Bah...

Well, ice cream *is* an excellent source of riboflavin. My mom always warned me about scurvy, though. But if it's strawberry ice cream, you should be okay. :D

12, eh? Aw, soon Jr.'ll be all grown up. Wait a sec. Soon you're going to have a teenager on your hands. An Arien teenager. Oh dear. Tink, you have my sympathy.
