home for the holidays

Yesterday rocked, besides... you know... not being able to do quite everything I wanted to do.

I didn't get up till noon, which I justified by the fact that I am on vacation. Liz helped me pick out a great present for my sister. We got to talk about a lot of stuff over lunch. Traffic to Toronto was really horrible, and since I was running really late anyway and traffic gets lighter the later it gets, I'd just take my time and leave for Belleville as late as possible.

It was nice seeing Kyle and Rin, too. Thanks for supper, Kyle. ^_^ And it was good chatting with QYV. I didn't get back on the road again until after midnight.

My plan partly worked. Traffic was pretty light when I got going again. Thank god, too. The weather wasn't working in my favour, though. I made the mistake of going back up to the 407 instead of the 401. I took the ramp from Markham Rd. Snow ploughs had just been through and had piled slush onto the onramp and had shaved the road so it was clean and smooth. So much so that I spun out when I tried to accelerate (and not even that fast, honest!) onto the highway.

Thankfully, there was absolutely no traffic around, and I managed to keep myself from slamming into the center median. I crawled to the next exit and took Hwy 7 till I go to a road that would take me to the 401. After that little bit of excitement, I decided to keep to a leisurely 80-90 kph even though though the 401 was mostly just wet pavement. I didn't get home till about 3:30am.

Today I've mostly been sitting around the house. I got my Christmas shopping done this morning (lord knows why I was up so early) before things got too crazy out there. I did a bit of wrapping and The latter half of the day has been spent first trying to (unsuccessfully) purge the adware trojans off my parents computer and now wiping the thing and installing XP. XP

Oh, and watching TV. Gosh. The Screen Savers really sucks now.
