fuck!

I've been playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I've been playing it a lot. It's a good game. I like it a lot.

Last week, though, I started getting the dreaded Disc Read Error on my PS2. O! Cruel fate! It seems okay if I let it rest for a little while, though. But it didn't seem to want to let me play much today.

Now, as some of you might know, my first PS2 died. It died while I was playing Grand Theft Auto III, no less. So when I bought a new PS2 (when Vice City came out), I made sure I got the Future Shop extended warranty. I had to hunt about to find the receipt. But I found it. Two year extended warranty. Excellent. Then I looked at the date on the receipt.

November 15, 2002.

FUCK!

*sigh*

Okay, so there are a few things I can do. I think I'm going to try getting some canned air to blow out the dust. I also might try some home repair. And if that works out, I'll probably go out and get the network adapter and an HD Loader so I can use my spare 40GB drive to copy all my games off disc. If it doesn't, I'll probably just bite the bullet and pick up the tiny new PS2. They're cute anyway. I do want one.

I suppose I have other options. I think it was Jon that mentioned I can ship back the PS2 if I'm getting read errors. That's a pain, though.

Stupid Playstation.

Wow. Squirrel, either you have rotten luck with electronics, or you play w-a-a-a-yyy too many video games.

I've never actually known anyone who killed not just one but *two* Playstations. What talent! And as someone whose gaming equipment includes an old original Nintendo AND a PS1 (both of which still function perfectly), I can only bow to your ability to murder them. ;>

Maybe a little bit of both...

This disc read thing is apparently really common with the PS2. The problem with the first one, though, seems to be a bit more unique. So I guess I'm special that way.

I guess GTA just isn't healthy for anything.
Too bad, because I played a little of it and it ROCKS!

I'm just waiting for it come out on PC.
Speaking of which, I might just run out and grab the other ones, or at least Vice City, that was a lot of fun.

But no, I should wait till after Christmas...
Should....wait....Vice City....

Well, one little game wouldn't hurt... Okay, two little games. I hear the PC versions are better than the PS2 ones, even though you have to wait a while. You can probably pick them both up pretty cheap, too...

You know, so long as you didn't tell anyone to get them for you...

It's not healthy, but I just can't help myself...

Addicts.

Y'know, there's always the dreaded "return for credit" option. We did that last year--jr. got *two* DVD players (yeah, kids really rack up the goods anymore), so we returned one and used the store credit to buy more Gamecube stuff. Normally I HATE returning anything for any reason. But really, so many people do it after Christmas that the stores just push you through and it isn't much hassle at all...

And two weeks is *much* too long to wait, dearies. What if you got hit by a bus next week? Would you be dying happy?
