Toronto Trek

I have to say, Toronto Trek is pretty much my favourite con in the year, as far as cons go. In a sense, AN\'s a bit more fun because more people go. But I don\'t think I could go to AN if people weren\'t there. It would suck so very, very much. Toronto Trek is actually kinda fun to go to by yourself.

I went to see a couple of the guests do their talks. Rene Auberjonois was very cool. He even did a little of his Les Poissons song from Little Mermaid. He does a lot of character stuff for animation and things, but unfortunately, except for the films, he doesn\'t actually remember much of anything about those jobs. Admittedly, the man does an awful lot, so I suppose he can be forgiven. So his talk was focused on acting and the actor\'s craft, which was pretty cool.

Matthew Waterhouse (or Adric, as I like to call him), was a bit of a different story. He played the Doctor\'s companion in the early 80s at the age of about 15. When asked what he was doing now, he responded something like \"Oh, not much,\" and complained about his long commute into New York, and how it just didn\'t seem worth it. Still, it was kinda fun. I actually jumped up and asked a question towards the end, when the line had pretty much petered out (and even the DWIN guys had asked about three questions each. I was kinda worried about sounding like a complete dork, but then when I start thinking along those lines, it occurs to me how silly it is to be worried about coming off as a dork at a sci-fi convention. So I just went with it.

I bought a bunch of crap from the dealer\'s room. Surprisingly (or not, I suppose), it was all Doctor Who crap. Mostly Doctor Who magazines I missed when I was moving my subscription to Kitchener. I was seriously considering getting Star Trek ship blueprints to replace the one I\'ve had on my wall since I was about 12 and is now kind of tattered. The place that had them, though, only had 11x17s. Mine print of the Constitution Class Enterprise is a huge D size plot. 11x17 is hardly a replacement.

I ran into xio just before the masquerade (who was hanging with her gay boy posse, who, in turn, were looking to shake down the con and settle some scores. Word). After the masq there wasn\'t really much to do so I just hung out with her for a bit and then went home.

Dave should be showing up in a few hours. I suppose I should clean things...
