Darcy Casselman's weblog. Just like old times.

Dumb

Gah. I\'m an idiot.

Last week I was complaining to people that it was looking like my ISP was blocking bittorrent. I put in a support request this morning to see what that was all about. In the process of talking to the support guy (who assured me they didn\'t block anything), I started to realize that it might have been all my fault.

Sometime recently I was playing with the QoS settings on my router. I thought I was setting it prioritize HTTP ahead of bittorrent so that downloading stuff didn\'t interfere with my browsing. But it\'s possible I was throttling bittorrent completely. I was sure I\'d tested it and it was fine (after which I\'d forgotten I\'d done it), but it\'s possible the settings didn\'t kick in till after the router rebooted. So it\'s possible the whole \"OMG, bittorrent isn\'t working anymore!!!1\" thing was entirely my doing.

Anyway, I went home expecting to fix the problem, but found that I couldn\'t connect to the damn PPPoE server anymore. So now I\'m at work putting in a new support ticket.

Hopefully they\'ll figure that out for my by morning. :P

(It\'s also irritating that the CSC webserver is also down. So I can\'t even redirect my domains to my backup webspace. Dammit. :P I\'ve already been kicked off the Doctor Who Web Guide for being offline so much, so it doesn\'t make that much of a difference, but still... :P)

Update: Of course, it\'s all fixed now, otherwise you wouldn\'t be reading this. And it turned out, that yes, the Bittorrent thing was, in fact, all my own stupid fault.
