lazy con report

The Prince of All The Cosmos shelters from the rain

I have an electrical quiz thing tomorrow, but I don't want to study anymore.

In summary, it was much more fun than last year, really. The security people still managed to piss me off every time they open their mouths, but once you accepted that, they're easier to ignore. Hanging out with Bill is always good. And Eric and Alex too, although Alex was pretty delirious most of the time. The chicken rocked, though, so I guess it was worth it. I got to see people. All good.

Saturday Bill and I discovered Indian Chinese Food which is, near as we can tell, almost exactly like regular Chinese food except there no pork on the menu and it's served by Indian waitresses. It was good. (Not the least because it got us away from Harvey's and Subway. Thank you, tor.eats).

I feel rotten for not getting ahold of Yvon. We put off trying to get ahold of him till too late on Saturday, and when it came time, we realized we didn't really have a good way. Yvon, I owe you a dinner. Don't be afraid to take me up on it.

Bill posted his con report, which means I don't really have to, because mine would be pretty much identical.

I don't think he mentions my purchase highlight of the con, which was little Nyanko figures—little kitties pretending they're food... stuffing themselves in dumplings and teapots and so forth. I love Nyanko. It's just too bad good Nyanko merch is so hard to find. (OMG, there's a GBA game! I can't find the flash movies anymore. That's disappointing). We were also disappointed when the version of the cappuccino kitty we got didn't have a dollop of whipped cream on its head like the one on the box. I did get another one in a tea cup or soup bowl or something that had a hat, though, so I guess that makes up for it..

My spending was pretty light this year. Mostly little trinkets and things. (Not that I need more trinkets...) I'm still a bit iffy about my finances at the moment. But Nyanko! And I found a Princess Tutu figure, which was improbable, so I had to get it. And somebody was selling decent Doctor Who toys... at AN!... which is equally improbable. No tachikomas, though, which is sad. Somebody might have found them before me, though. No manga this year, because I'm behind on reading stuff I already own. And the only anime I bought was Elfen Lied, because I felt compelled to share. 9_9;

Bill also doesn't mention that we shared our hotel with a rowdy bunch of Red Hat ladies, which was... interesting. Going in we thought maybe the Anime North people would freak them out, but judging by the shellshocked expressions of the few AN people we ran into while checking out, it looks like the reverse was true. And personally, while I'm far from used to suggestive comments being directed my way from anybody (far less free-thinking 50+ gentlewomen), I decided to feel flattered, even if I had no idea how to respond. >_>;

All in all, like I said, it didn't suck.
