oil change

I finally got my oil change done last night, 500km too late. The car wasn\'t sounding too grindy or anything, but it was nicer after I got it done.

While I was getting that done, I wandered over to Fairview Mall, mostly to go look at portable dishwashers at Sears. I ended up buying the three new Ghibli DVDs at Walmart, though. (Yeah, I know. Normally I wouldn\'t buy anything at Walmart, but the only other store that had it was HMV, and they\'re always stupidly expensive. I didn\'t really feel like walking across the street to Best Buy).

The DVDs have a \"Free Bonus DVD!\" promotion if you buy all three. Apparently, though, you just get an older Ghibli release. I\'ve already got all those (I own three copies of Kiki, actually. I bought the R2 DVD when it didn\'t look like they were ever going to put out a subtitled release). So it isn\'t really worth cutting up the cover sleeve thing to get another one.

The Belleville Home Depot had portable dishwashers, so I decided to stop by the Waterloo one to compare and contrast with the Sears ones. The Waterloo store didn\'t have any, though. I ended up walking around the carpet section for a bit.

The bedroom in the basement has a raised, wooden subfloor. The home inspector guy said this is generally a bad idea. Moisture and so on. I\'ll agree with that, but mostly I want to get rid of it because it wobbles. I think I might keep the carpet (carpet\'s expensive), but I want to get rid of that subfloor.

As I happened to be wandering by, some guy was giving a demonstration of different DIY flooring stuff. I got there just in time to hear him talk about installing carpet on concrete. No problem, he says. Thus emboldened, I think I\'ll go ahead with it. I want to do more with the space downstairs, but just getting rid of that subfloor would be a start. I\'ll have lots of time, though. Unless somebody I like shows up and tells me they want to give me money to live there, I\'m not planning on using that room for anything for a while.
