she-bulletin?
I\'m smart enough to tread lightly when it comes to gender politics. And to be honest, I actually think women get short-changed a bit in society, at least as far as catering to interest goes. Then again, anybody whose favourite things aren\'t sports and supermodels in bikinis get short-changed in our society, so I sympathize, but I\'m drifting from my point. My point is...
Is something like this really necessary?
I mean, Total Woman Show. Fine. \"Events for women.\" Cool, whatever. \"Sensational speakers\"? I like speakers. I don\'t care what they\'re talking about, usually... I just like to hear people talk about things they\'re interested in. But \"fashion shows\"? \"Cooking stage\"? \"Prizing and sampling\"? Aren\'t we catering to stereotypes a bit here? I\'m sure it\'s a really \"zany\" \"girls\' day out\" and everything, but I think claiming to represent all women and their interests is probably reaching a bit.
It\'s like those radio stations that briefly tried to market themselves \"For Men\" by having lots of dick-waving sports call-in shows and fart noise sound effects.
Honestly, \"For men\" things just aren\'t appealing at all. I don\'t say that to belittle my sex at all. I just think trying to generalize to half the human population is stupid.
But that\'s not what prompted me to write all of this.
What prompted me to write was... \"She-bulletin\"?? Are you serious? Why not just call it \"Cowetin\" and get it over with.
Gawd.
