Darcy Casselman's weblog. Just like old times.

finally...

When I last updated for real, I was freaking out over my offer.

There were two competing offers on the house the first night. Both were identical.

The owner was getting crotchety and disoriented, so they decided to call it a night and resume the next day (leading to more freaking out on my part). It turns out I really should have given my agent some room to move. I\'m not sure what the other offer was the next night, but it turns out the biggest reason I won was because they liked me. My agent said they were going \"Oh, I wish that young gentleman had been willing to go even just $2 more and we\'d have given it to him!\" In the end, I only had to go $1500 over my original offer. I was willing to go a bit more, but I guess I didn\'t have to.

And so I\'m quite happy with how this turned out. I\'m still a little anxious. Just general, low-level background anxiety that will probably only go away once I\'ve got the keys and have moved in. I\'m also a bit worried about money. I don\'t like worrying about money. I\'ve worked hard to make sure I didn\'t have to worry about it. I think I\'ll be okay, though. It\'ll be a bit tight until I have the car paid off (that happens in October). After that, I\'ll have some wiggle room.

I\'ve done the mortgage and insurance and lawyer stuff for now. Home inspection happens tomorrow. I should get a chance to ask them about what we\'re going to do about furniture while I\'m there. They seem very conscientious, and the house is in fantastic shape from what I\'ve seen. I\'ll be very surprised if the inspection turns up anything serious.

Hm... two months isn\'t a very long time. I\'d better get some boxes and start packing...

If you missed it before, my house... :D
