back to work

Here I am, settling back into a routine.

I like being on vacation, even though I didn't manage to do half the things I'd planned on doing. But that's okay. It's vacation after all.

I never actually met up with anybody back home. Yvon, sorry, I'm not in Belleville anymore. And I didn't go visit my grandmother, either. I feel kind of bad about that.

I went to the Kids in the Hall's stop in Toronto on Monday. That was fun and silly. I probably shouldn't have stayed overnight, though, because while it was fun and seemed sensible at the time, I had to drive through that nasty stupid snowstorm on Tuesday. Stupid snow. It's April. Go away.

*sigh*. You might have noticed, I don't have anything very worthwhile to talk about. I'm procrastinating, really.

It's spring!

It's spring! It's snowing! Stupid weather.

I'm on vacation. This week I'd meant to do a bunch of stuff, but it hasn't really panned out. I wanted to get the bike out and tour around a bit, but two blocks after inflating the tires, the rear tire blew and I had to walk the thing home. This put a bit of a damper on things. I wanted to start looking at houses and condoes, but I chickened out. There's a townhouse just a block away from my apartment which looks pretty good and may well be in my price range, but I can't bring myself to phone the realtor. Oh well.

I'm going back to Belleville next week, which should be fun. I'm also getting a new computer on Saturday, which is also fun. To bad I'm going home before I get a serious chance to play with it. Ah, my life is rough, isn't it?

waking from a restless sleep

I've been sick with a cold for the last few days. This is bad. I have a rather immovable deadline on Thursday and progress has been slow. Progress has been even slower since I can't manage to think straight.

Today I'm feeling a bit better, and starting to get a grasp on all the dumb things my sick-addled brains has done in its attempts to get things done. Coding, unfortunately, doesn't require an enormous amount of brain power. Debugging, however, does. It was a valiant show of determination on my part, but for the amount I actually got done in terms of useful work, I probably should have stayed home these last few days. This has been noted for similar situations in the future.

I got the last episode of the Dalek Empire series in the mail last week. I finished listening to it in the car today. I have to say I was well pleased. The surprise ending was wonderful, if a bit abrupt (like the ending to War of the Worlds, in a way). I won't spoil it for you, as I'm sure you're all eager to order it for yourself. I really should write Big Finish a thank you letter (mentioning off-hand that it would be a very good idea for them to do an Abslom Daak play one of these days...). I love audio dramas. It's a shame that it seems to be a lost art in this part of the world.
