I took a trip down to Fairview this afternoon to see if I could find
Neo-Canada's Lumber Gundam. (You have to love the toque).
Unfortunately, it looks like the Kitchener Toys R Us has scaled back their Gundam section. Sad, really.
Just so as not to make my trip a complete waste, I decided to buy a new bed instead.
I kinda need it, so I'm not completely crazy. And I've been putting it off for months for no very good reason. So there
you go. It's much nicer than the bed I have now (even when it was new), the price isn't horrendous, and it arrives
Saturday. I can't wait, really. Coziness!
Dammit, the EB at the mall had the Godzilla GameCube game on
for $20. Why didn't I see that before AN? I can't, in good conscience, pay $
60 or whatever it was before. $20? Sure.
The weekend was good, overall. CTRL-A went well, I think. I've decided, though, that, despite nostalgia and being able
to just grab a seat in the back row, I think AL is the better venue. The hallway outside the room in EL was a tiny bit
crowded and noisy. Also, I feel kinda bad that I was a bit anti-social after the Saturday show. Sensory overload or
something. Loud music doesn't really agree with me.
Yesterday was a corporate-sponsored anime show, which was kinda fun, moreso for the people than the
anime. Geneshaft was pretty stupid. That was a disappointment, 'cuz I saw the first
episode untranslated at... somebody's house... years ago. I came away with the impression that it was mildly cool. Just
goes to show that some things are just better when you don't know what the hell is going on.
I've finished both the Golden Sun games for the GBA (I started the first months ago—it was the second game I got. I got
stuck near the end and only got out by reading a walkthrough and realizing that I hadn't
picked up a key item a few towns back). The new Golden Sun is, in part, more of the same, but in other parts
considerably cooler.
Those games had kept me pre-occupied the last couple weeks. Not having them has left a void in my life that needs
filling. Yes, I realize how unbelievably pathetic that last sentence is.
I tried to pick up a new game at Future Shop last night, but nothing obviously jumped up off the shelf at me and I was
eventually driven out of the building by a car audio demonstration.
I think I'll go down to the Electronics Boutique by Sportsworld, trade in some stuff and see if I have better luck
there. .hack://MUTATION is out and, as much as I like the story, I don't think I'm interested in more of the brainless
dungeon hack stuff. We'll see, I guess.
We have a company meeting tomorrow. It starts at 8:30am. It's the other end of town (~15 minute drive on the
expressway). Everyone's expected to be there.
There's some speculation in the office that we're all going to get gassed.
I don't think it's anything so severe. The bizarre (outside core hours!) timing was due to a sales training conference
that was cancelled due to SARS. I guess they couldn't/didn't bother to change the room booking. It's likely the usual
end-of-quarter pep talk.
If we show up at 8, we get a continental breakfast. I'm conflicted. I'm forced to choose between my two favourite things
in the world: free food and an extra half-hour of sleep.
