stuff and doctors

Hurray! My Doctor Who CDs came in today and I didn't have to pay taxes or duties or anything. WhoNA rocks! I've fallen a bit behind, but I like listening to them in the car, and I think I'm going to go home this weekend. I'd go home the next weekend for Father's Day, but my laundry situation is getting a bit desperate.

Wow. Stream of consciousness.

Back in stuff-related news, my Palm phone thingy arrived at the UPS pick-up place today, along with this cool jacket I ordered online. (I'd normally never contemplate ordering clothes online, but this just looks awesome. I mean... 28 pockets! Hee hee hee hee! Too bad it's getting past jacket weather already. I hope it gets cool and wet again).

So I have lots of new toys and stuff. Fun!

I have a doctor's appointment in about 90 minutes. I'm a bit nervous, since I haven't been to see a doctor (except in clinics to get prescribed anti-biotics) in about 10 years. Um, not that I'm expecting anything bad will happen, I'm just nervous.

I've been thinking of getting one of those jackets, I just can't justify that kind of cash on a jacket.
Considering I got my last one for $3 ^_^
But tell me how it is, and I might just shell out the extra bucks for it in the fall.

I like that the sleeves come off.

I've got the rain shell, not the vest. So the arms aren't going anywhere. It might have been better for summer if it did, but I think vests are kind of silly-looking.

I've been looking around, and anything that I thought was decent was getting up in that price range anyway. I'll get free jackets from work occasionally, but never anything this cool.

And, so far, it's definitely the coolest jacket in the world. It's even got magnets instead of snaps. How cool is that?! It feels really high quality, which is good. I was a bit worried I might just be paying for the gimmick. I'm just sad it's way too hot out to wear it.

Oh wait, maybe I can remove the sleeves! Neat! I'll have to try that.

Ya know, I don't like visiting the doctor either.
Eye doctor, skin doctor, family doctor, dentist... I always get nervous beforehand. I'm always worried that they'll find something terribly wrong and they'll have to amputate a limb or something. : /

So how was your trip to the doc? Uneventful, I hope.

Uneventful. He dismissed a few fears and, if anything, made me feel a bit silly for worrying about things in the first place.

Also, I'm dumb. I've had heartburn for a while. I've been taking Zantac (or its generic equivalent) for over a year now. It works really well--until the 12 hours are up and you know it's time for the next dose. It also says that if symptoms persist for more than two weeks, you should see your doctor.

I didn't have a doctor after the two weeks were up, so I just kept taking it. After all, it works pretty well. It started working less well recently, though. So I decided I'd ask the doctor about it.

He didn't seem too concerned. But he did make an appointment for me to get tested for ulcers. That's in a week. I had to stop taking any stomach medication for two weeks before I could take the test.

I heard that and I gave a disbelieving look. How the heck was I going to sleep at night?

Well, after a day of not taking anything, my heartburn was no worse than when I was taking medication for it. Right now, it only shows up once or twice a day, and not as bad as when I was taking the Zantac. So I feel a bit stupid, really.

In retrospect, I probably should have run my self-medication scheme by my dad. He is a pharmacist, after all.
